Canadians are struggling to get enough, high quality sleep. Over a third of us report sleeping less than 7 hours each night, and nearly half of Canadians regularly or always experience challenges with falling asleep or staying asleep. On average, men get slightly less sleep than women, and women have more trouble falling asleep and staying asleep than men. Overall, it’s fair to say many of us could use a little help getting a good night sleep.
Warmth.
This helps our muscles to relax. When you leave your hot tub for our cool bedroom, the sudden shift in temperature also helps to cue the body that it’s time for sleep. And, unlike a bath, your hot tub maintains the perfect temperature to keep you cozy while you soak. As you prepare your mind for bed, you won’t have to worry about the water getting cold before you’re ready to get out.
Shut Down the Screens.
One thing that may be contributing to Canadians getting less sleep than ever (we average just 7.12 hours of sleep today vs 8.2 hours in 2005) is our increasingly connected world. We’re constantly surrounded by the internet in 2018. Back in 2005, the first iPhone wouldn’t be released for another two years. It’s a correlation that’s hard to ignore. If you’re struggling to fall asleep, consider putting the screens aside at least an hour before bed. Instead of watching a show, take a soak with your partner.
Relax.
Perhaps the best thing about getting away from the screen and into the hot tub is that it can help to create a mental barrier from the everyday. Your email is gone until the morning, the awful news stories can wait until you wake, and for a precious hour, you can just be aware of what’s going on in your own home and mind instead of the whole world.
It should come as no surprise that the team at RnR Hot Tubs and Spas wants to help Calgarians get the rest they need. If you’ve always wanted a hot tub, come ask our experts how you can make your dream a reality.
